Lesson 1
The Noun:
The noun designates beings, people or things that exist independently in reality. For example: piedra (stone), Antigua (city of Antigua), dolor (pain), resistencia (resistance), etc. Their grammatical difficulties are: Gender and amount or when articles (see Chapter 3) or adjectives, are used. The noun is divided into general and individual.
The general or common: This is used to indicate all people or things of the same species or class. For example: caballo (horse), capital (capital city or currency), mujer (woman), etc.
The individual: This is used to indicate specific people or things to distinguish them from the rest of their class or species, like: Antonio, Ana, Marta, etc. or like: Antigua, Mexico, Chimaltenango, etc.
