Lesson 1

Lesson 1

The pronoun indicates one or multiple people or things without naming them.

Personal pronouns

Singular

1st  person          yo                                          (I)

2nd person           tú / vos                                (you)

3d   person          él / ella / usted                 (he / she / you (formal))

Plural

1st  person          nosotros / nosotras       (we)

2nd person          vosotros / vosotras        (you)

3d   person          ellos / ellas / ustedes    (they / you (formal))

The pronoun ‘vos’ refers to the second person singular just like ‘tú’, and is used in Guatemala and many other countries in Central and South America. It does not replace ‘tú’ completely. Instead, the two are both used, and you can choose which you like. To keep it simple, the slightly different conjugations for ‘vos’ are left out. However you can find them easily on internet should you be interested.
